Marcin Majkowski: Photography

A poet and writer, Marcin Majkowski was born in Kielce, Poland. He currently resides in Krakow. He’s received several awards for his writing, which appears in various US zines. For Marcin, photography is a great hobby and, in addition to poetry, a second way to express himself and his mind. Starting from 2010 he has won awards and participated in several Polish and International competitions, including 3rd place in FOTO – the oldest Polish monthly photographic magazine, and is currently in the final selection phase of the world renowned Nikon Photo Contest 2012-2013.     the picture that captures the random bench reminds me of the ones loneliness amongst the vastness of life. built to serve for someones comfort but left untouched in the middle of nowhere. the desire for company but left out with hope of use.

    Majkowski’s photographs, through my eyes, represent loneliness and how it kills. In the photos there is not one single person appearing in them. Not even on the bench. All the leaves of the trees have fallen. Probably due to the fact that there is no one there, no one to take care of them.
